Health Studies (General)

The Year 12 Health Studies General course enables students to explore health as a dynamic and multifaceted concept that contributes to quality of life and individual wellbeing. Students examine how personal beliefs, values, and attitudes influence health behaviours and decision-making, while developing strategies to promote both their own health and the wellbeing of others.

Throughout the course, students investigate the impact of social, cultural, and environmental factors on health and wellbeing. Using inquiry and research skills, students analyse contemporary health issues and evaluate responses designed to improve health outcomes within individuals and communities.

The course also provides opportunities for students to develop practical and transferable skills that support future pathways in health promotion, community services, research, and healthcare-related industries.

Key areas of study include:

  • Holistic Health
  • Consumer Health
  • Social and Cultural Norms

Through the course, students strengthen their communication, problem-solving, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills within a health context.
