Year 12

Physics (ATAR)

Studying a Physics course will enable students to understand the fundamental principles governing the natural world, providing a solid foundation for further study and careers in science and technology. Students are exposed to a variety of physical sources, including experimental data, theoretical models, scientific papers, simulations, and secondary sources, in order to analyse physical phenomena and solve complex problems.

Students who choose Physics will complete depth-studies and investigate topics such as:

  • Mechanics and Motion
  • Electromagnetism
  • Thermodynamics
  • Quantum Physics and Relativity

Pathways Beyond School

Studying physics will develop students’ critical reasoning and analytical skills, including the capacity for solving intricate problems and thinking logically. Physics graduates are therefore valued by a wide range of employers and organisations. Just some of the career pathways associated with studying Physics are:

  • Physicist
  • Engineer
  • Astronomer
  • Data Scientist
  • Medical Physicist
  • Research Scientist
  • Software Developer
  • Teacher
