Take your creativity beyond the classroom and into the world!
Year 9 Public Art & Murals invites students to dive deeper into the exciting world of large-scale, community-focused artmaking. You will EXPLORE advanced mural techniques, visual storytelling, and contemporary public-art practices used by artists across Australia and beyond.
Students will CONNECT with real spaces and authentic audiences, developing artworks that respond to themes meaningful to our College community. You’ll investigate how public art influences culture, sparks conversation and brings people together. Collaboration is central—students will work in teams to plan, scale and design mural concepts, just like professional artists do.
With an emphasis on skill development and creative growth, this course challenges students to CREATE artworks that push boundaries and make a positive impact. You’ll take creative risks, step outside your comfort zone and learn from constructive feedback as you transform ideas into bold visual statements.
Assessment
• Practical: Visual diary development, design proposals, collaborative mural projects
• Written: Analytical tasks exploring public art movements, artists and community engagement
