Year 11 Courses

Year 11 Course Overview

Choosing your subjects in senior school is one of the most important and exciting decisions you will make in your secondary education. This is the moment students begin shaping their own future, aligning their studies with their strengths, passions, and aspirations.

While the range of options available at Emmanuel Catholic College, and the many pathways beyond Year 12, can feel overwhelming, thoughtful decision-making now will set you up for success.

We encourage both students and parents to explore this section of the website together. Take time to read the course descriptions, watch the introductory videos, and get a genuine feel for what each subject involves. Every course has a dedicated teacher contact, please reach out to them with any questions. They are best placed to help you understand the course content, demands, and opportunities.

Choosing Wisely

The most successful students choose courses that match their abilities, interests, learning style, and future goals. At Emmanuel College, we work in partnership with students and parents to ensure each student selects a program of study where they can thrive and achieve their personal best.

To make informed decisions, it is important to consider the following:

  • The strong link between senior school subjects and post-school destinations. Your Year 11 and 12 subjects can significantly influence your options for university, TAFE, apprenticeships, or direct employment. These pathways are shaped by your academic performance, interests, and work ethic.
  • Multiple pathways to success. There are now more flexible routes between TAFE and university than ever before. We encourage you to research specific entry requirements directly with universities and TAFE colleges.
  • A rapidly evolving world of work. The employment landscape is changing quickly, with new jobs emerging and increasing demand for adaptability, digital skills, and lifelong learning. Many students will experience portfolio careers involving part-time, contract, and project-based work.
