Physical Education Studies (ATAR)

The Year 11 Physical Education Studies courses focus on the complex relationships between motor learning and the psychological, biomechanical, and physiological factors that influence individual and team performance. 

These courses cater to students from a variety of sporting and academic backgrounds. Students are provided with opportunities to analyse both their own performance and the performance of others, apply theoretical concepts, and develop training programs designed to enhance physical performance and participation outcomes. 

The courses encourage students to develop critical thinking, practical application, and problem-solving skills within a sporting and physical activity context. 

Course Content

Topics studied may include: 

  • Biomechanics 
  • Functional anatomy 
  • Motor learning and coaching 
  • Sport psychology 
  • Exercise physiology 
  • Skill acquisition and performance analysis

The Physical Education Studies ATAR course provides pathways to university study and careers within the sport, exercise, health, recreation, coaching, physiotherapy, teaching, and allied health industries.

B-Grade in Year 10 Specialist Physical Education and eligibility for Science ATAR
