Year 11

Certificate III in Sport & Recreation (General)

Certificate III in Sport & Recreation (General)

The College offers this certificate to students with an interest in the Sport and Recreation industry. This qualification forms the first stage of a two-year program that enables students to achieve a Certificate III in Sport and Recreation.

This certificate differs from a General or ATAR course, as students are not assessed through traditional grades or marks. Instead, students are provided with opportunities to demonstrate competency across a range of practical and theoretical units.

Units of competency include:

  • Senior First Aid Certification
  • Snorkeling
  • Mountain Biking
  • Performing Basic Water Rescues

In addition to these units, students participate in two camps designed to support the practical components of the course. One camp is held at Rottnest Island, where students have the opportunity to develop and demonstrate competency in snorkeling and mountain biking.

The second camp takes place in Margaret River, where students hike sections of the Cape-to-Cape Track, explore local forest environments, complete mountain biking trails, and canoe along the Margaret River while learning about the history and significance of the region. These experiences further develop students’ teamwork, resilience, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

Pathways Beyond School

This qualification provides students with a strong foundation for a variety of pathways within the sport and recreation industry.
