At Emmanuel Catholic College, students can choose from a range of pathways to achieve their Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) and prepare for life beyond school.
ATAR courses are designed for students aiming for direct university entry. These academically challenging courses are externally examined in Year 12 and contribute towards a student’s Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR).
General courses are suited to students planning further training, apprenticeships, employment or alternative university pathways. These courses focus on practical skills and include an Externally Set Task (EST) in Year 12.
VET programs, including Certificate qualifications, provide students with nationally recognised industry training and practical workplace skills. Many Emmanuel students combine VET with ATAR or General courses to create a personalised pathway.
Foundation courses support students in developing functional literacy and numeracy skills required for the WACE and future employment pathways.
Preliminary courses are designed for students with identified learning difficulties and/or intellectual disabilities who require highly individualised programs. These courses do not contribute towards the WACE.
Endorsed programs provide valuable learning experiences outside traditional courses and can contribute unit equivalence towards the WACE. At Emmanuel Catholic College, Workplace Learning is a popular endorsed program that helps students build confidence and industry experience.
At Emmanuel Catholic College, students are supported to select a pathway that matches their strengths, interests and future goals. Flexible combinations of ATAR, General, VET and endorsed programs allow every student to pursue success in a way that best suits them.
