Year 8

Netball Academy

The Year 8 Netball Academy is a specialised program designed for students who demonstrate a strong interest and commitment to netball. Students are invited to apply for inclusion in the program through a selection process.

The academy consists of multiple lessons each week and incorporates both practical and theoretical components to support the holistic development of student athletes.

Practical Components

  • Strength and conditioning
  • Netball skill development
  • Coaching and umpiring
  • Match play and game-based learning

Theoretical Components

  • Game structures and tactical awareness
  • Nutrition and athlete wellbeing
  • Responsible use of social media
  • Injury prevention and management

A compulsory co-curricular component forms part of the academy, with students expected to attend a one-hour training session each week, either before or after school. Throughout the year, students will have the opportunity to participate in a range of fixtures and competitions against other schools and colleges.

The program also includes excursions, guest presenters, goal-setting workshops, and leadership development activities, providing students with valuable opportunities to enhance their personal growth, confidence, and understanding of the sporting environment.
