The Year 8 Basketball Academy is a specialised program designed for students who demonstrate a strong interest and commitment to basketball. Students are invited to apply for inclusion in the program and are required to complete trials during Term 3.
The academy includes a number of lessons each week, depending on the year level, and incorporates both practical and theoretical components to support the development of student athletes.
Practical Components
Theoretical Components
A compulsory co-curricular component forms part of the academy, with students expected to attend a one-hour training session each week, either before or after school. Throughout the year, students will have the opportunity to participate in competitive games against other schools and colleges.
The program also includes excursions, guest presenters, goal-setting sessions, and leadership activities. These experiences are designed to enhance students’ basketball knowledge, personal development, teamwork, and leadership capabilities.
