In this exciting, hands-on course, students will EXPLORE the foundations of public art street murals, community installations, and large-scale collaborative artworks. You’ll experiment with colour, pattern, scale and storytelling, learning how artists bring walls, buildings and public spaces to life.
Working in a supportive and inclusive studio environment, students will CONNECT with others as they brainstorm ideas, design collaboratively, and respond to real world contexts within our Emmanuel community. You’ll investigate how public artworks reflect culture, identity, time and place, and consider how artists communicate messages that inspire and unite others.
Through sketching, digital design, and practical painting techniques, students will CREATE bold and imaginative artworks that express their voice. You’ll be encouraged to take creative risks, problem-solve, and refine your ideas, building independence, confidence and resilience as an emerging young artist.
• Practical: Visual diary work, experimentation with media, collaborative mural-style pieces
• Written: Short responses analysing public art and artists who work in the community
