Year 10

Music

Year 10 Music is an exciting, highly practical subject where students perform, compose, create and explore music across a wide range of styles and genres. Using their own musical interests and tastes as inspiration, students will develop the skills and confidence to become creative and versatile musicians.

Students will strengthen their listening skills and musical ear while learning how composers and performers use stylistic features to create music that is expressive, engaging and unique. Through composing, arranging and performing, students will explore how music works and develop their own musical identity.

Students will also investigate the history of music and the key events, artists and innovations that have shaped the music we know today. Using music terminology and scores, students will learn how to analyse, compare and critique musical works like real musicians and producers.

A major focus of the course is performance. Students will choose, rehearse and perform a variety of solo and group repertoire while developing technical skills, confidence, expression and stage presence.

Whether you love performing, composing, contemporary music or working creatively with others, Year 10 Music offers a fun and engaging pathway into senior school Music courses.
