Politics & Law (ATAR)

Politics and Law explores how decisions are made in society and how laws and political systems shape the world we live in. This course develops your understanding of the principles, structures, and institutions that underpin Australia’s political and legal system, while also examining other systems such as those in China, the United States, New Zealand, and Indonesia. You will learn how laws are created, applied, and interpreted, and how power is exercised and challenged in different political contexts.

Unit 1: Democracy and the Rule of Law

Explore Australia’s legal and political system, with a focus on the principles of democracy and justice.

Unit 2: Representation and Justice

Examine how representative government and legal systems operate in Australia and compare them with systems in other countries.
